Need a template tag to validate if_is_group_admin and/or if_is_group_creator

I have altered the layout of the unordered list, so that certain admin-only functions are in the sidebar whilst others remain in the tab bar and therefore I’m looking for a conditional tag to restrict the display of these menu items to site admin or group admin users.
I thought I might find a tag already in use within bp-groups-templatetags.php but can’t seem to find it. Anyone dealt with this (and succeeded) before?
