“Problem Updating Information” Dialogue on Custom Profile Fields

When I click on Save Profile, a red bar appears at the top with the dialogue: “There was a problem updating some of your profile information, please try again.” Even though this occurs, and the profile page is still in an editable form (ie it doesn’t redirect to the finished profile and I can still type in the fields), the changes to stick. If you hit the Profile button at the top, the changes you’ve made are there.

Anyone else experiencing this issue? The Plugin hasn’t been updated for a while, which either means it’s still working wonderfully in most instances, or it’s not compatible, and there is no plans to make it so.

    Thoughts.

Yes, I am experiencing this also. Even with BuddyPress 1.5…

    Bump.

I’m having the same issue and users are unable to update the “Primary” field of the profiles fields. Any ideas?

A bit of research on this indicates that (at least for me) the problem is because I changed the name of the primary field from “Name” to something custom. When doing so I get this error if I don’t change the value in that field. If I do change the value it’ll save, but that field will *always* reflect the username no matter what I change it to. There appears to be a related bug report: https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/3725

For now the easiest solution is to leave the primary field “Name” unchanged. If I do that it seems to work just fine.
