Hi everyone!

My web host has upgraded their servers and is requesting old customers to move to the new servers. So far, everything sounds good. The new server is a lot better than the old ones.

They’re giving us a 2 week window to test that everything will work fine on the new server. I’m in that process now. My site is running WP 3.3.2 and BP 1.5.5.

I’ve tested all pages and everything works fine except that all forum posts are gone. Also, the “Forums”-page takes about 20 seconds to load. All other pages loads quickly. I’m unable to post any new discussions and get an error message when I try to do that.

First I tried clicking “Use existing bbPress installation” but that didn’t work. Still no posts on the forums page. I’ve also tried re-installing the bbPress groups forum components in the BuddyPress settings with the same result.

Could the fact that I’m unable to post new topics be due to a permissions error? The absolute pathway on the new server did change, I changed that setting to fix the missing avatars after the move.

I solved this by editing the database information in the bb-config.php which is located in your WordPress root folder. The web host had used a script to edit the database information automatically in wp-config.php but the old database details remained in bb-config.php. Now all of my old forum posts are visible again.
