I uploaded the new version above of bp-group-externalblogs.php and loader.php but it would still not accept an RSS feed

Just tested this (github version – modemlooper-external-group-blogs-e808cf0) on a local install. It immediately brought in six items (???) from a local newspaper. We’ll see how it goes and report back. Thanks for it and the others.

added “,” and a second feed – did not come in.

On a second local install i put in the two feeds (simultaneously) as above. Only 1 – (the first one) came in. (7 items this time)

I reload these pages every few hours and report back at the end of the day

Feeds appear to be coming in. Activity notice (e.g.where it says

    > active 2 hours ago) for the group is not affected by feed insertions. Thanks.

I downloaded this plugin and put a feed in a group but I’m not getting any updates. Thanks!

The WordPress repo version is out dated.

What does that mean? Do I download it here and it will work? It says version 1.2.1 (same as here). Can I find a version that works?

There isn’t an updated version to work. This is a back burner plugin that I may work on in the future. Most of the time we developers create plugins for our own needs and then after that time it may never get updated. You can either, fix or create your own solution or hire to have it updated.

One reason I hadn’t updated it is because it was written by Andy the creator of BuddyPress he has since moved to other things. I took over plugin but it wouldn’t work with newer versions of BP. It needs to be re-written from ground up. Just haven’t the time for it.

Any updates or hopes of this guy being revived?? I’m having troubles finding any decent external RSS importer for my BP…

I’ve been eyeing up “RSS Multi Importer” for WP and thinking how great it would be to have a similar one avaialbe. Imagine: multiple incoming RSSs are assigned a feed category (aggregated RSS feed) that automatically posts to a specific group’s activity feed, or some other group page. It would be perfect!!

Wish I had the know-how to jump in and write this myself. Keep me posted, @modemlooper! :)
