View Profile Page?

I just installed BuddyPress and there is no option at all for seeing my own profile page like Facebook. I don’t want members to access the backend. I only want them to see the front-end Profile page. How do I go about this?

i believe you are mistaken the buddypress profiles can only be filled out in the front end (even for admins) the wordpress backend profile is separate (other then a few items).

I understand that, that is not my question. Look at Facebook. I want a “Profile” page on the navigation that users can click on to view their own profile. I know that you can view other’s profile by checking out the Member’s page. But what about your own?

It sounds like you want to add a custom menu item called “Profile” that links the current users control panel?

I’m actually trying to do the same thing. Users who are not regular users of community portals or forums are conditioned to look at MENUS for navigation. The assumption for the average user is, if it’s not in the menu, you can’t get there from here.

Buddypress like many great internet tools often forget there are still basic-minded users on the internet. Navigation is still king.

I’d love to know how to do this as well.

when you are viewing your own profile the first tab labels “public” is probably what you’re looking for the fastest way to get there (typically) is through the wp admin bar under : your name > profile > view

Thanks Ben. Again that is not the solution that I was hoping for. This is essentially what I am looking for.

    1. “My Profile” button on the navigation.
    2. Click it…it brings to THE USER’s profile.

I understand that there are other ways to view your own profile. But how do I get it to be a Page link? And also how do I modify the profile page to look like Facebook? I want this to look good for users coming into the site registering.

i don’t think you can create a universal link (i.e. in the normal wp menu system) it would need to be dynamically generated which would require coding it into your theme, reformatting the page would require css modification also possibly additional theme modification.
