Yes, WooCommerce works fine alongside BuddyPress. We use it on http://www.enterprisenation.com/shop

WooCommerce provides a fairly rich API with lots of actions you can hook onto — so, provided you are a developer, you can also mould a tight integration with BuddyPress.

Themekraft produce a plugin that integrates the WooCommerce account / profile screens with BuddyPress’s profile screen — we find there are some issues with the UX this creates though. If you google this forum, there was a recent thread discussing this.

    hi guys

last night i started setting up a fresh WP installation with the newest version of BP. all good.
i then installed (via WP) woocommerce and after installation (i guess during activation) it just stalled. admin would not respond at all. no errors, just complete blank page, for every page i tried, except for one time i got a 500 error with no detail.

i eventually deleted the plugin folder and it went back to work without woocommerce.

if anyone has any suggestions here, i’d be happy to hear.i also want to install another couple of plugins, like Learn Dash – wondering how all theses templates are going to work with each other….

    Thanks!

you could be over your memory limits i believe both woo commerce and buddypress are relatively memory hungry running both on a shared server or vps without much memory allocated probably wouldn’t get very far. just my thoughts.

yeah i doubt your host provides for enough ram to run both in shared (mind you i’m just speculating).

@rogercoathup I have a question as you are successfully using the Buddypress plugin alongside Woocommerce.

I already have buddypress installed in my website and I’m gonna add the Woocommerce plugin. When a user is logged in or a user tries to register in the website, is it going to the Woocommerce table or the buddypres user table?

The ThemeKradt plugin (http://themekraft.com/shop/woocommerce-for-buddypress/) says they are “integrating” the user information, but as long as see, they are only taking some Woocommerce information and putting in the User profile navigation, not “mixing” tables. Or am I wrong?

There is an extensive article on setting up BuddyPress and WooCommerce on xd3v. Might be helpful.

I read this thread with some interest and see that there are recommendations to use a Premium Plugin to accomplish this.

I have a development in progress. I have developed a custom child theme using the Genesis Framework. I’ve successfully integrated buddypress with this theme. I am using X-profiles and registration is handled and managed by Wishlist Member. I have since determined that WooCommerce is the best tool for my client and the software slid right into the mix with no problems at all.

The above mentioned premium plugin does not appear to function with X-Profiles, and X-Profiles was the method that I used to secure details of the profile at the member’s choice.

What I’m wondering is maybe something I should be asking at Woo but why haven’t any of you tried the “simple” solution of using the wordpress do_shortcode function to add the shortcodes to the templates where you want that code to show? I added the [woocommerce_my_account] shortcode to the general.php template which was copied into the child theme folder (bp-legacy template) and it works just fine. Am I missing something?

    Hi @marjwyatt,

Adding the Woo shortcode should allow you to view the Woo account page. However, this solution only integrates one small piece of WooCommerce and BuddyPress; others might need a more robust solution.

Fair enough, and I don’t disagree that there may be more robust requirements. I tend to “resist” the use of plugins where code will do the trick through. For Woocommerce, all their shortcodes could be dropped into the appropriate BP template and/or your child theme’s code.

My development is different. We are letting the Wishlist Member plugin manage registrations.
