Did you have a look at rockettheme’s wp themes (the ones based on gantry framework)?
I’ve tried to add support for buddypress but it doesn’t work well. I’m missing page title and sidebar isn’t showing up.

I have just tried another (different) theme: Gradient 1.0.1 by Sandeep Hegde
and I still cannot Create a Group and cannot do any other function which requires groups.

Not sure what you mean though. Why would members need to post in a group they haven’t joined? I’d have thought that’s the basic idea; you join one to post in it (and read too, if it’s hidden).
