The BuddyPress menu stopped flying out for subscribers, but seems to be working for admins. It&#8217;s sporadic. If the BuddyPress menu does fly out, the links take the subscriber to the home page and not to the buddypress inbox (for example). </p>

<p>investigate the DB itself and make changes directly in the DB via SQL queries. </p>
<p>create dev environments in which you export/import using various methods. </p>
<p>probably the direct use of the DB itself will be the most reliable. </p>
<p>check the original DB re duplicates. </p>

<p>then, with an upgraded buddypress, if i switch back to the child theme i created (of bp-default), the site just displays the WSOD, and i need to revert to the backup. </p>

<p>purchased a commercial theme for $60 hoping it would work out the box. it didn&#8217;t. </p>
<p>i created a child theme and it works with the old version of buddypress</p>
<p>i added all the memory stuff to files like .haccess that folks recommend when you get the WSOD w buddypress</p>
