Installed the plugin, and it did just what it says it does, but it also causes a big error message when you try and “Favorite” something in the BP activity stream…

“Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: Cannot send session cache limiter – headers already sent” at line 159 in the main.php

Hope this can be fixed!

There are some map plugins available, but I’ve not used them. As I understand it, there are plans to port the Ning app to BP in due course.

Can anyone tell me if new members registering via Facebook receive welcome messages?

It appears that coming from FB they bypass some of the required aspects of registration (completing profile fields etc.)…and if they don’t get an automatic welcome message, I’ll need to start chasing this up with a personal message.

I think this is a great plugin, and it’s already increasing the membership of my BP/WPMU.

My only concern is that users registering for the first time seem to be able to bypass the required fields on profiles (and I also seem to have one FB-created profile which just re-directs to the home page)

I’ve fixed this. For whatever reason, the BP 1.2.4 install wasn’t completely overwritten. Everything is back to normal. I won’t be repeating the upgrade until I can be sure things will work as planned.

I think the key is to give the Admin control over the number of re-invites which can be sent at any one time. Overall, it’s a feature I’ve found extremely useful while running a Ning-based network.

To reduce the spam potential, you could restrict the number of invites which could be selected to be resent at one keystroke to no more than – say – 50, or some kind of date restriction which meant they could not be resent in the current month. But it’s a hugely useful feature.

It doesn’t seem to be working on my network. Clicking on the icon just redirects you to the page of the item you’re trying to like…..

Had to uninstall it. I’m using the latest versions of everything. Hope a future version will resolve this, because it’s a great idea, and would be very popular with members of my site.

In a future version, it would be great to have the option to select groups of email addresses and re-invite them. I’ve found elsewhere that re-sending a couple of months later is often very effective in getting people to come and set up a profile.
