<p>If anyone else is running CentOS and runs in to this issue just open up terminal and type</p>
<p>yum &#8211;enablerepo=remi install php-gd</p>

<p>After doing some diggin around my server, AllowOverride was set to None. Setting this to All and restarting the server fixed the issue.</p>
