BuddyPress

I’d like to use BP or a similar plug in to keep communications with my clients. I don’t need high security level. Nothing will be discussed that’s all that sensitive, but I do need to opt for some private communications.

Primarily, I’m posting info of interest to my prospective clients. I also want to post updates on prospects, visitors to the client property, and such. I’d also like to upload a CSV file of clients and invite them to log in and register with my site.

Anyone have a suggestion on what I need to make something like this work?

Obviously, the best thing is to set up a test site with BuddyPress and see if it does what you want. I’d suggest using private groups (one per client / project). For document sharing within that group, see http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-group-documents/
