Changing Display Name gives: ’There was a problem updating’ error (6 posts)

    Hello,
    When I or my users try and change our display name it gives the error ‘There was a problem updating some of your profile information, please try again.’ and does nothing. I updated to BP 1.5 and that is where the issue started. Older users who still have their display name set, and who try to update it, will have their display name reset to be the same as their username.

    Does anyone have any ideas of how to fix this?

    Okay, it is now saying “Changes saved” but shows no changes, and reverts to the normal username. Can anyone help me?

    Are you running a localised version of BuddyPress, or have you renamed the default group or that default name profile field?

    I have this error too. Running BP 1.5.1 WP 3.2.1 Single Site and I have renamed the default group but not the default name field (since updating to 1.5).

    It appears as though both my default group and name field were different when upgrading BP.

    The solution is to rename the name field back to “Name” and the group back to “Base” then you are able to rename them back to how you had them previously.
