With WP 3.0 and BP 1.2.5.2, I have a couple of groups set to private with some updates in their activity streams. When I set the groups to be public, the activity stream disappears, however if I look inside the database the activity items still exist.

Any ideas?

when you checked the db – was the hide_sitewide set to 1 on those records?

looking in the BP core code for groups_edit_group_settings nothing updates hide_sitewide if changing the status level from private to public.

Yes, hide_sitewide on these records remains set to 1 when privacy is set to public!
