I was wondering if there is a simple way to hack BP so that the activity stream desn’t update when people join a bbpress group?

I’m using the Auto Join plugin and whenever new members sign up the AS gets flooded. I’m not looking to reduce the number of auto join groups I have set up, which I know is one solution to the problem. II’m hoping there is an easy enuf way to change BP.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Probably can be done via a small custom plugin that removes the relevant hook. I didn’t check into, but I recall doing something similar in the past.

Sure.. check out this plugin from @nuprn1:

    http://buddypress.org/community/groups/buddypress-block-activity-stream-types/

Simply add the “joined_group” action to the Block Activity Types textbox in the plugin settings!

Okay it is installed. One more quick question, is the plugin supposed to retroactively remove ‘targeted’ AS updates or does it only work on ones posted after the plugin has been installed?

new ones only (and no way to recover future ones ;) )

    Thanks rich!

Is there a (simple way) way to remove old one? Other than manually deleting each update?

via sql would be another way to remove them (besides manually each via buddypress frontend)
