Problem with avatar on with a MultiSite set-up

    @leosinclair

I have a MultiSite where the original default site is working ok; however, the subdomain site has problems.

    1. The Change Avatar function is broken
    2. The avatar in the widgets are broken

Here’s what I am seeing: The image is pointing to the wrong folder. For example, here the link for the image that’s broken:
    subdomainname.defaultsitename.com/files/avatars/1/d343ec12c63044919867e79d31231866-bpthumb.jpg
But here’s where the image is:
    subdomainname.defaultsitename.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/21/files/avatars/1/d343ec12c63044919867e79d31231866-bpthumb.jpg

In other words: files = wp-content/blogs.dir/21/files

Could someone tell me how and where I can fix this? This same problem is affecting the Change Avatar function. I can upload an image but it’s doesn’t display for cropping because it’s pointing to the wrong folder/files.

    Thanks.

Could someone help me with this? I am still unable to fix this problem. Am I the only one having it?

If you can, upgrade to BuddyPress 1.5.5 (just released this morning). There’s a fix for multisite avatar, and I’d love to know if it fixes your problem or not.

Sorry but no, it didn’t fix it. Here are the details. When using the Change Avatar form.

The Change Avatar form has a bug. Here are the step that identifies the bug:

    1. Browse to image that needs to be uploaded.
    2. Press the “Upload Image” button and the image gets loaded to the following folder: `wp-contentblogs.dir21filesavatars1imagename.jpg`
    3. Then the “Avatar to cropAvatar preview” image is pointing to: `src=”http://websitenamehere.com/files/avatars/1/imagename.jpg` but the image isn’t there. So no image is displayed.

So in other words it’s pointing to the wrong folders. Thanks. Look forward to seeing the fix. I would love to help this fix it but I’m not so sure where to begin with the code. It could take me a while and I could figure it out, or shorter time, if you give me a hint where to start. ;-) Thanks again.

Sorry, in point two the folder mapping is as follows: `wp-content/blogs.dir/21/files/avatars/1/imagename.jpg`

You understand, “21”, is the sub-domain id and I assume the “1” would be the user id?

    Hi Paul,

I was wondering is this an isolated issue (is it just me) or others having the same issue? How, when, and where does the php code differ from the root site compared to the other sites in multisite? What’s the best way to troubleshot this so I can see the difference in the way the url is built?

    Thanks.

Have you set BP_ROOT_BLOG manually in wp-config.php? If so, to what?

    Hey,

somehow i cannot use this site correctly.Clicking on “Create new topic” throws a 404 on https://buddypress.org/forums/new-topic/.

So i cannot create a new topic for my problem, but it might be a bit related to this one here.

When i create a new group in Buddypress, the avatar i upload is not shown. It is indeed uploaded to “wp-content/uploads/group-avatars”, but not in a subfolder like when i change the avatar of a group. After changing the avatar, the avatar is shown. But when i create a new group and want to upload an avatar, it is the standard avatar shown.

Where could be the problem? The rights are already 777.

One addition: it seems, that also the state of privacy is not saved, when i create a new group. Only, when i change the privacy after creation. So when i want to add a private group and not public, it is still public after creation. The problem exists also with Standard Theme of Buddypress…
