I guess I can disable the buddypress blog directory and replace it with a blog directory via plugin or other. I need to add my current users as members, since they are not seen by the bp network.

As a follow-up, I disabled all plugins except buddypress network-wide.

A child theme for a non-BP WP theme with the BP template plugin activated ought to be a best practice approach for integrating buddypress into an existing site. There are some missing links however.

There needs to be more documentation about how to modify an existing site to integrate the BP templates. The wizard text isn’t really enough.
