I used an all ready translated file that I found in buddypress codex (somewhere I don’t remember) and I did some changes.
Hi @Chouf1 and community
You had right pointing the bp-functions.php file, as after translating the original wordings in this files (bp-friends/bp-friends-functions.php:100 and 109), now they are translated.
But why this specific wording need to be translated from the php file and can’t work from the po file?
This will be a problem after upgrading buddypress.
1) Po file is declared in utf8
2) Greek doesn’t face any issue in any character, as I all ready translate almost 800 wording wihout any issue (every character appears ok).
As a matter of fact I changed the “%1$s and %2$s are now friends” with “%1$s test %2$s” and still I get “%1$s and %2$s are now friends”.
So it’s something that hasn’t to do with language.
Thank you @Chouf1
I (at least) double checked the translations. I did reload the page one thousand times
Every other change I make it appears immediately. It is weird…
I use bp-default and I use Greek.
First of all, thank you for taking time to response.
I think I understand the difference between the .mo and the .pot file.
What I still don’t get is which will be my moves after an update so to keep the all ready translated wordings and the new ones (if there will be new ones).
So, if you could try to write this procedure by steps, I would be grateful and I promise that I will avoid a new PBCK
Hi and thank you for your answer!
So how can I update the existing pot file (the one including the all ready translations) with the new version’s pot file? I mean, is there any way to merge those two files?
If there is a way to merge the two files I will keep both the translated wordings and the new ones (if there wiil be), right?
Thank you again!
