Yes it’s the theme as private community works with default BP.

Not really sure how that helps me though. I’ve gone through 6-7 premium themes now trying to get BP to work how it should and 3 of those are since BP1.7 was launched with it’s claims of working with any theme (it blatantly doesn’t).

I think i’m just going to give up with it before i have a breakdown to be honest.

Very possibly but i’m not skilled enough to check, i have limited experience in all this so have to rely on plugins.

I’ll keep trying anyway, there’s membership/role plugins i can try i guess.

Neither work i’m afraid, not for us anyway.

I’ve activated private community but can still access BP when not logged in.
I’ve activated private buddypress but no tab is added to our settings page so it can’t be configured.

Someone please shoot me.

Looks like the perfect plugin but as usual on our BP installation, this doesn’t work.
Have installed it but there’s no tab added to our settings panel so it can’t be configured

So why makes claims that BP will work on all themes then and releases promotional videos with designers shouting from the rooftops about it? I’ve held back for months then gone out and bought 5* Themeforest themes (so no, not badly written) because of BP’s promises only to be let down yet again.

Sorry to hijack the thread anyway, i’ll start a support topic after the weekend and see if we can find out what the issues are.

Has anyone actually managed to get 1.7 working out of the box with any theme not written specifically for Buddypress?

I’ve bought 2 brand new premium themes and neither work!!!!!!
I’m so disappointed after all the claims made about this new version.

Maybe we should start a thread to list all the themes that don’t work and save others the misfortune & expense of going through what i am right now.

So tonight i’ve deleted everything, bought a brand new theme and reinstalled BP.
It doesn’t work with the theme, or with template pack.

Hi again,

We’ve upgraded to 1.7 and still need to install template pack for this to display properly, unfortunately.

This also means we’re still getting duplicate posts in the activity stream, groups etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

@mercime the theme is supposed to be buddypress ready but isn’t and only works properly with the template pack. It’s a Themeforest theme called MADE

I’m using WP3.51 and the BP1.7 beta2

I’ve disabled all plugins leaving only BP and we still have the duplicated posts, it’s a real nightmare.

I’ve never had an option to join/leave groups in the group directory on any theme. Only when you click through to a group page can you join.

Is there a plugin for this, I can’t find anything or am i misunderstanding this thread?

I don’t mind paying for plugins and do so all the time but never without seeing them working.

didn’t test all but Firefox & Chrome weren’t working.
i tried to reply to a post in the buddyshare forum then send a public message to it’s developer but the page just refreshed. I’ll try again tomorrow
