I will in work this into a plugin. I have never attempted a plugin before but I believe I could possibly pull it off. (see idea here)
I am wanting to be able to easily add another tab to the group navigation tabs that I can then assign a url to.
I am not trying to make it display within a group tab page, simply linking to other relevant content.

How would I make it so that each group could have a different link instead of all groups getting that one by default?

How did you fix your issue? I am now experiencing the same thing…
I would also like to know how we can change the default orderby to title, instead of by date.

I managed to edit the pot file as suggested by @CJ-Kruger‘s link http://codex.buddypress.org/extending-buddypress/customizing-labels-messages-and-urls/.
It would be nice if the modified file was included in the download. (If it was, I missed it.)
Here you can get the modified .po and .mo files that work with BP 1.5.5 & BP Courseware 0.9.5.

Simply download and copy to the bp-languages directory… Pull up your site and see the corrected verbiage.
