the site site is in http://obidosaeroclube.com.
I’ve received in my GWT a bunch of 404 errors with that link structure.
This airfield site was previously made in another platform diferent from WordPress and with another domain. Once that the new site got ready I’ve asked the previous site webmaster to make a redirection from the old domain to the new and delete the old site. So he did it.
After reading you, I guess the redirection made by the old site webmaster is causing this.
I don’t find another fix for this than block at robots.txt – Disallow: /terms.asp?
What do you think ?
Thanks in advance
There’s another plugin I’ve just found:
There’s at least 2 plugins for wordpress that handle flags according visitors IP to do some function. I guess one of them makes use of shortcodes to put anywhere (posts, pages, widgets) to display some visitors country flag.
Ipgp User Country Flag
The plugin will show your visitors their country flag, based on their IP Address. You can add it as a widget to your sidebar, using a shortcode in your post or pages or directly in your template trough template tags.
Maybe you can go with this one, If you do I’ll be glad to know how did you solve it.
I’ve just found out this thread http://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/configuring-w3-total-cache-with-buddypress/
Last update was 2 years back. It must be outdated.
anyone wants to add what to enable and what to avoid from plugin settings?
I can add that Browser Cache enabled hides from non logged users groups content.
The current version of SeoPress conflicts with group forums, you can’t edit or delete topics and shows wrong count for each forum topics list, So its unusable in my case.
Totally agree with regular posting and all that stuff. The problem is on a regular wordpress blog, you need to adjust seo settings otherwise you will be producing duplicated content and getting penalties from google on your rank.
Depending on the theme you use meta titles and meta description change, You may want to control that too to adjust it to your site specifics.
As far as I know target keywords is the primary criteria search engines use to map sites and build their listings to output in search queries, why shouldn’t one exploit that to be found by the keywords he wants to and not by some random keywords that he never knows what they are?
Totaly agree with G+ circles and add Facebook, Twitter, and the rest of social networks.
When you have a site you must have a strategy for capture visitors, You have plenty that influence how your site is build. Search engines, social networks, advrtisement, you name it.
Returning to my inicial question, What’s the best way to handle SEO optimization with BP?
Again concerning this issue and commenting on @djpaul
It might be a bbPress bug. You should start a discussion on the bbPress forums at bbpress.org,
I guess this is a Buddypress issue too. Not saying that its original cause isn’t related with how bbPress handles buddypress integration but the fact is once you install sitewide forums you don’t get sitewide forums activity integration as promised, only groups forum integration.
You should go deep on this and make sure someone fix it.
I’ve just made a new install in a new subdomain with no plugins, default theme, only WP, BP and BBP and it just doesn’t update sitewide forums at activity stream.
Unless my hosting is causing this, there’s an important bug around.
I’m not getting any answer on this at bbpress forums.
I’ve Already tried to disable all plugins, switch to default theme, reset buddypress and bbpress installation, review all settings, everything looks fine, even members profile have the forums tab with the topics list correct and no updates from forums at activity stream.
Is it just me or there’s more people with the same problem ?
I’m using sitewide forums after had disable groups forums
Posted on on bbPress forums. http://bbpress.org/forums/topic/bbpress-not-displayed-in-new-update-buddypres-version-1-6-1/#post-117025
Not sure if ThemeKraft team is aware of this one.
I’ve just installed your SeoPress plugin and Group Forum topics got messed.
It allows to create new topics, shows them, but doesn’t allow to delete or even consider it as existing.
Once one topic is created and viewing it on its topic page, title doesn’t show and instead shows (0 Posts). When deleted, gives a not found page.
Deactivating the plugin everything gets normal.
Looking for the updated version of this wonderful plugin.
Never mind just got it.
SeoPress plugin from Themekraft, with wonderful options to take care from titles and meta descriptions tailored for BuddyPress was causing this.
Working fine now.
By the way any advice on an alternative to handle SEO meta descriptions for BuddyPress ?
I got it fixed !!
The whole issue and fix is described here, David Carson, Frisco Theme developer provides the fix for it.
BP Album team have work to do.
I’ve added ‘buddypress’ inside the brackets of get_header() and get_footer() and didn’t fix it.
Tried to switch to default theme and it looks ok, there isn’t any change on the layout when viewing album tabs.
The same here.
BP Album – 0.1.8.11
Going to try to add ‘buddypress’ at get_header() and get_footer() as @aaronp5 suggested.
@Paul Gibbs, I saw it vanish while setting Buddypress, the reason why I had the impulse to come here and say “BuddyPress doesn’t show Favicon”.
After find out that it shows without www and don’t with www, I’m more into some server issue or .htaccess misconfiguration.
@shawn38, it wasn’t at theme’s folder but in child theme and site public root.
As recomended at WordPress Codex it goes to the current theme’s folder which is the child theme.
Added also the snippet of code at header.php for older browsers to be able of display it.
Just added to default theme folder and he same result nothing changes.
@Karmatosed, not group avatar but site favicon.
The funny thing is, if I set a non www domain, favicon shows again. I’m not sure this is a BuddyPress issue.
Well, it seems that these errors are no more there.
What I did to fix it? Nothing !
But I did one thing that I’m 90% sure could be related.
My translation when saved creating automatically .po and .mo files from poedit software, was giving an error message mentioning 4 lines with bad control sequence as far as I recall.
Those errors were fixed and now my .po and .mo files are clean. I’m assuming this was causing the missing translation for those lines.
So, my advice is to check if translation files are error clean, it looks like if not these errors may happen.
Not sure if I’m adding anything new to this issue, but in my case and so far I’ve only identified these two translation entries not translated. The rest looks ok.
- ” %1$s created the group %2$s “, referenced to bp-groups-actions.php line 141
- ” %1$s started the forum topic %2$s in the group %3$s “, referenced to bp-groups-forums.php line 110 and 142
Since then, is there a fix for this? I have the same problem!
Translation files name .mo and .po were starting with a capital letter, in my case was “…/Buddypress-pt_PT”, instead of “…/buddypress-pt_PT”.
Working fine now.
Regarding the number of entries, glotpress has is in a previous version than the one I’m using, since mine was updated from the latest pot.
As soon as the site is done and revised I’ll be delivering this translation for the repository.
I’m not sure if this topic is clear enough to get the attention of the great buddypress team.
If it’s not would somebody from the team have the kindness of at least drop me a line asking for more details or pointing me some direction?
Thanks a lot
I’m using the same versions, sitewide forums too and very often despite showing the excerpt from a post or a reply, doesn’t show the thumbnails added to it at activity stream.
I use to make a recount on settings from dashboard and it starts to work again.
So far I’m still in need of assistance.
Anyone can tell me where do I look in Buddypress or BBpress for the code that pulls updates from forums to activity stream?
My forums image thumbnails doesn’t get the right css class at activity stream.
