I’ve just come across this about creating a functions.php for my child theme taken from here –> http://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/building-a-buddypress-child-theme/ ” You must make sure you give your child theme functions a unique name, otherwise they will clash with the parent.” Is this correct..? @pinhit i’m not sure what you are asking.

@avim I got it, there will be more options, I’m going to create another plugin that allows a user to create different “friends” lists and then add those lists to […]

@pinhit @pinhit Search in the forums, it’s been asked many times how to filter activity. Also read the documentation codex.buddypress.org

@pinhit Dirty hands are fun :-) Didn’t you already set member profiles to show only to logged-in users? The whole profile section (including the header) is being hidden whereas only the profile activity streams should be hidden. Check members/single/home.php for the code you added earlier, and comment it out or remove it temporarily to see if [...]

@pinhit You really are struggling with this one, aren’t you? One of the important things to look out for is being sure your “if” statements are properly nested. To mimic the functionality of the site you linked to above, open activity/activity-loop.php and paste the first part of the conditional (the if, message & else) immediately AFTER [...]

@pinhit Kenny this is what I mentioned on your other thread and is now an example of where there are too many posts revolving around the same question :) . This solution (read the whole thread linked to above for full understanding) will work to limit access to directories or in the version above it permits [...]

@pinhit the expresion ‘lever advise’ is not a good choice of terms nor is ‘misguided ‘ the support forum is voluntary; people help out where they can, there is no SLa that advise is correct it’s the best that a member might be able to offer. If you have found your own solutions to problems then [...]

@pinhit Umm… this is your 3rd post asking pretty much the same question that was answered here: http://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/members-privacy-how-can-i-hide-members-profiles/ Creating multiple posts on the same topic isn’t going to get you help any faster; it just tends to clutter up the forum. @pinhit

That depends what exactly you are trying to restrict. Do you want to restrict those funky View Permalink pages to logged-in users only? Or do you want to restrict the entire Activity Stream to logged-in only? If the latter, do you also want to restrict Group Activity… the list could get quite long :-)

@pinhit You’re not going to get told off again :) but I’m afraid you are asking coding questions, questions about how to adapt and modify a site and that requires a little coding knowledge, not everything is plugin based – although a lot is. Sorry pcwriter but don’t link to W3Schools it’s not that great a [...]

@pinhit The file you want to edit is members/single/home Make sure you edit the file in your child-theme, not bp-default, or you will lose your changes when you update Buddypress. Add the following just after the opening padder div tag (change the text to suit your site/users): Then add this to close the conditional just [...]
