    uploaded wordpress 3,5.1 zip downloaded from wordpress. unzipped manually installed mysql installed buddypress with default buddypress theme manually created pages. contributor does not have add media. author does so will use author. thanks for your time i give up.

    I tried all plugins without success. Including changing themes. After I reinstalled WordPress Author has add media button Contributor does not. Here is a picture This is the first tome I have used assigned roles. I have been self hosting wp for 3 years.

    Author and Contributor cannot add pages either. Sorry is this a WordPress thing?

    Re installed BUT my original problem is assigning roles. In settings Anyone can register Author and Contributor DO NOT HAVE THE ABILITY TO ADD MEDIA. If I assign the new registered user the role of Editor they can add media but they also can delete posts I want Author and Contributor to Add Media

    Nope tried default theme tried making everyone administrator only I get post with Add Media,. Reinstall wodpress? Start from scratch?

    Theme is speed plugins buddypress bbpress jetpack When i log in as a registered user and go to post, the add media button is not there tried changing theme still the same. registered users cannot add media to a post or page HostsLikeMe
