Turns out BP 1.2.5 may not be automatically activating site-wide in WP 2.9.2. Forcing it to activate site-wide fixes this issue.

Hi Jeff, I have the same issue. And it now explains why all the bp template tags were not working in my sub blog themes. I didn’t notice that Buddypress was not activating site-wide, but clicking the activate site-wide link fixes this.

Thanks for the tip. I just used it to add PollDaddy polls in the forums area.
