| WordPress Origin Story | I got involved with WordPress sometime around 2004/2005. I was looking for a CMS to run my Netmix.com site as a blog. I had learned about WordPress through my online research and decided it would be my CMS of choice for my Netmix site. In October of 2009, I felt I knew enough about WordPress and having managed extensive web development projects, I decided to start my own digital strategy consulting company, Digital Strategy Works. That year, I spoke at WordCamp NYC and also co-organized WordPress Westchester. In 2010, I moved to Chapel Hill, NC to help develop a digital news project at the UNC School of Journalism and Mass Communications. I lead development of our platform on WordPress and it’s where I launched my second WordPress Meetup Group, WordPress Chapel Hill. Today, I live in Asheville, NC, where I continue to operate Digital Strategy Works. I have presented for the five years at WordCamp Raleigh and also at WordCamp Asheville and WordCamp Hampton Roads. |
