Access from other sites on network

I want a network of sites using multisite where all the Buddypress info (profiles, avatars, groups etc) is just on one site (or at least always the same), but accessible from the other sites. The main issue is retrieving avatars across the site since that’s not just stored in the database.
Any ideas of how I might do this?
