Adding the BP Signup/Login Page to themes

Hi All

I know that 1.7 is in theory compatible with all themes. My only question is how to add the BP membership signup/login to the home page of any theme. I notice it isn’t a widget (unless I missed something). In order to have this which we definitely need to have, Are we restricted to Buddypress compatible themes?
