disable MyBlog references if blogs are disabled

if we disable the user’s ability to create their own blogs, shouldn’t all references to “MyBlogs” esp on a user’s profile subsequently go away. I thought I might be able to quietly turn off these menu items with a small hack but they seem buried in bp-blogs.php and I’m not ready for serious tinkering. Just trying to avoid confusion on everyone’s part. Was able to successfully Mod the Admin bar to simplify. see http://buglenotes.com

Mike, the blogs component is about creating and tracking the blogs that each user creates. If you don’t want your users to create blogs then don’t install the blogs component. All references to blogs should just vanish. From the admin bar, from the home theme and from the member theme.

That and disabling blog creation in the mu back end should take care of it. Am I missing something? Won’t be the first time.. :)

I thought about that but I want to retain a “main” blog which the entire community will contribute to…won’t that throw out all blogging ability? If it doesn’t then it’s an easy solution.

    Mike,

Delete the bp-blogs directory and bp-blogs.php in the /wp-content/mu-plugins and you are good to go. It will not delete the main blog.
