Error using msgfmt

    I get the following errors when trying to update the language file:

    msgfmt -o buddypress-mysite.mo buddypress-mysite.po
    
buddypress-mysite.po:4006: keyword "msgctxt" unknown
    
buddypress-mysite.po:4006:8: parse error
    
buddypress-mysite.po:4297: keyword "msgctxt" unknown
    
buddypress-mysite.po:4297:8: parse error
    
buddypress-mysite.po:4303: keyword "msgctxt" unknown
    
buddypress-mysite.po:4303:8: parse error
    
buddypress-mysite.po:4652: keyword "msgctxt" unknown
    
buddypress-mysite.po:4652:8: parse error
    
buddypress-mysite.po:4653: duplicate message definition
    
buddypress-mysite.po:4008: ...this is the location of the first definition
    
msgfmt: found 9 fatal errors

    These are referencing lines that begin with:

    msgctxt "action"

    Any ideas on how to get past this? What is the issue with removing these msgctxt tags within the .po file?
