Hi there,
is there a possibility in creating different types of friendship/connections – not just friends, but friends, football mates, work mates etc.?

If not are there any plans to implement this at all?

There is a followers plugin — http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-followers/

We do want to add more types of relationship into BuddyPress in the future.

Thanks Paul,
the followers plugin is ok, but is not what I was looking for.
Are you still looking to implement more types of relationship into BuddyPress?

Would there be some workaround until then? Using some kind of metadata that can be stores with each connection I make? Anyway, I quite likely will not get to this until the October time…

There is a meta, “is_limited”, BP does not use it at all, it set to 0 by default. Maybe we can make good use of this meta, set it to other numbers to represent different types?
