Getting started with bbpress

    Hey Guys,

I’ve managed to get an install on WordPress MU + Buddypress + Facbeook Connect up and running. I’ve set up Forums and bp says everything is working right.

BUT – and maybe I’m being stupid here – where do I set up Forums? I.e. provide the initial category structure for everything to work within? From a user perspective I see no options to actually create a post.

    M.

You need to create a group in order to create a forum.

Create a group with discussion forum enabled and you’ll be able to see some forums.

FYI, there is no category structure for forums right now.

    It’s basically flat.

I managed to figure it out. It’s a shame it doesn’t work as a classic forum where the administrator control the overall forum structure, however I can see, and appreciate, the use case which it serves.

I think we’re kind of in the same boat – and the help I was given in another thread was that for THAT kind of control, you need to disable bbpress within BuddyPress and do bbpress as its own, separate install.

Of course, if I’m off on that, someone will likely pounce in short order.
