How to use SSL Over Entire BuddyPress site?

I checked the tag for “SSL” on this site at http://buddypress.org/support/tag/ssl/ and see very limited information about how to secure the entire site with SSL. Are there any updated techniques or plugins that can aid in making sure the entire site is protected with SSL?
