member/blog directory, the abcd… for i18n?

The abcd…. member search function doesn’t work if buddypress is used on non English environment, such as Japanese.
If it is possible, I’d like to requrest a feature to be able to search even if buddypress is used without English. But for now, I’d like to know if it’s possible to change, so that abcd… searchs the user IDs not member names.
or do you know how to use the Japanese a,i,u,e,o search?
