I’m geussing that BP 1.1.3 or even BP 1.2 can be released anytime now, since the About page tells that photo albums will be released end of 2009. But it’s just sit back and wait at the moment..

/me waiting too… don’t want to upgrade in 2 months when i could do it now…

    possible access to the cvn?

This is pure speculation on my part, but I would guess that 1.1.3 could be released within 2-3 weeks. It could be a little sooner or later.

As far as version 1.2, if BP-release history offers anything to go on, I would guess that there could be a 1.1.4 before a 1.2 release. Even if the versioning jumps directly from 1.1.3 to 1.2, I would not expect that to happen until after the new year. There are still a few big-picture items that need to make it into BP to meet the roadmap for v1.2 and WPMU 2.9 has yet to be released.

But, what do I know. Andy and jjj are the ones to answer. I’m just an outsider waiting to hang out with the cool kids. ;)

I’m spending a lot of my time working on something right now that will somewhat form the base of 1.2. It’s all behind the scenes at the moment, so I’m not showing a lot of public activity.

I’m going to go on a bug fixing run sometime next week and that will result in 1.1.3. There may or may not be a 1.1.4 before 1.2, but I’m not sure yet. JJJ is doing a good job with bug fixing so far, once the new stuff I’m working on is in trunk, we’ll sync up and formulate a plan for 1.2.

i checked the svn… no change… so they do not plan on making it tested right away, i would think Jeff is completely right about the version and release date… :)

i don’t like pushing projects to go quicker only to make some persons happy, so guys, take your time… lol

btw, i have plenty of job doing fixes on the engines i already have, porting my widgets and plugins to the latest version and try to make my themes more efficient with the actual structure of BP — because BP have a lot more css elements than the regular WP/MU, a lot of things have to be edited to make it fit with my themes… :)

…edit after Andy’s post: hey, if you need a founder’s help, just contact me… :) i have plenty of time working bugs and features out!

oh, btw, do you think most of the tweaks here could be added to the next version?

I took just a quick look at that thread and it looks like to me that at least 40% of them are already addressed in 1.1.2 or will be added by 1.2. The rest are either no longer relevant or are too site-specific to have a basis for being included in core.

hey hey… yeah, 1.2… Andy just told it would take a bit before we see it… that’s why i asked.

btw, i’m really impressed with what you’ve done with BP… when i left WordPress, it was at version 1.2 and Donncha was busy coding the source of WPMU, so imagine what was done by that time. now i wanted to build a complete site with all the needed features, and BP was the answer…

    @nexia-

Have you been in stasis? Just kidding. ;)

You’re correct. The pace of development of WP-based projects has really accelerated over the past several years.

i was not really in stasis, i was developing for vBulletin…

not sure what i’ll do next though, we’re supposed to start a new project… i get used to!

hum, btw, Andy, can you tell us a “possible” dateline for the next releases?… i really need to know if i have to edit all these files by hand or just wait for you.. ;)

hmm….curious to know what´s going on behind the scenes ;-)

Hopefully a bug fixing 1.1.3 by the end of this coming week. Then 1.2 will be before Christmas if all goes to plan. I will update the roadmap page.
