i am brand new(like today) to wordpress and buddypress both so please be patient with me. I realize alot of plugins are optional but my buddypress does not seem to be working right, there are no fields to edit any user profile infomation, and it is not sending a new user email out to create a new account. Is there a list of minimum plugins i need to install. right now all i have installed is buddypress, askimet and bp profile menu(which also does not seem to work) also i would like to make this site a 2 membership level site with a free trial period what do I need in order to do that?

You shouldn’t need a plugin to have emails sent or to have profile fields. Are you using the BuddyPress default theme? I ask because something could be wrong there – not sure there is though.

Now, when I say you don’t need plugins to send emails or have profile fields it all depends on ‘what’ and ‘how much’ you want.

https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/configure-buddypress-components/#users-profile-fields should be a starting point for you on profile fields though.
