Site crashes after installation wizard- MAMP

Hi,
I just installed wordpress and buddypress. I activated it. I ran the installation wizard. As soon as it is finished, the system reports me this error:“The website encountered an error while retrieving http://localhost:8888/wordpress/XXXXXXX/wp-admin/options-general.php?page=bp-components. It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly.”
I’ve tried many times always with the same result. I’ve tried with buddypress default theme as well as other compatible ones.
P.s. I’m running Mac Os X 10.6.8, using MAMP (the works perfectly well before installing Buddypress)
The funny thing is that if I try to open, on example, Wp-Config with Text Editor, the system now tells me that the “application does not exist”… Yeah, right…
Please help! It’s already a few days I’m on it, without any result!
