Sitewide Forums and permalinks

  • I can only access Sitewide Forums I create with WP default permalinks but BuddyPress says it won’t work unless I change from default. When I change from default I get a error about too many redirects or a redirect loop that won’t complete when I try to view the forum.
I have WP 3.2.1 with BP 1.5 set up as a subdirectory install in the root of a GoDaddy Linux hosting package. Group Forums turned off, Sitewide Forms activated which installed bbPress 2.0 plugin. My .htaccess file looks like:

    # BEGIN WordPress

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteRule ^index.php$ – [L]

    # uploaded files
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?files/(.+) wp-includes/ms-files.php?file=$2 [L]

    # add a trailing slash to /wp-admin
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?wp-admin$ $1wp-admin/ [R=301,L]

    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f [OR]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d
    RewriteRule ^ – [L]
    RewriteRule ^[_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/(wp-(content|admin|includes).*) $1 [L]
    RewriteRule ^[_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/(.*.php)$ $1 [L]
    RewriteRule . index.php [L]

    # END WordPress

There is no blank space at the top.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Problem solved.
In response to an error message about possible conflicts, had changed the Form Base slug under Archive Slugs in Settings->Forums rather than the Forum Slug under Single Slugs.
Now I’ve changed the Archive Slug back to “forum” and changed the Single Slug to “sitewide-forums” and everything works great.
    Hope this helps someone else.
