Subsites with different communities pulling from domain’s databse.

    I have a multisite install. I am looking for all my subsites to have their own communities, but still pulls from the main community so they can be members of multiple subsites.

    i.e. a member would be able to choose that they want to be part of http://www.domain.com/subsite1, http://www.domain.com/subsite6, and http://www.domain.com/subsite8. They wouldn’t care about being members of subsites2,3,4,5,7,9.

    Also, once complete, I would want these to be displayed under the “my sites” tab.

    Is this all posssible? If so, do I need a specific plugin?

    One more thing, all these sites use the same theme and plugins, they are just for different areas of town.

    When you say “have their own communities”, do you mean like a BuddyPress multisite mode? If so, that’s not possible, unfortunately. You’d have to use a multi-network configuration (one BP instance per network), but I don’t know enough about these to understand what the dis/advantages might be.
