Usermaxima more than 50k by buddypress? Is there any way to use NoSQL?

    Hi

I’m wondering what the limit of buddypress is with mysql. I guess it wouldn’t manage, lets say more than 50k users? If for some reason the limit is getting reached, how hard is it to move it over to a NoSQL database? Or is there any way too use buddypress with any type of NoSQL from the beginning, so that it could (hypothetically) manage a million+ users?

    Best,
    Lukas

i do not believe there is a limit to the number of wordpress or buddypress members imposed by any of the software anyways.

Correct, no hardcoded limit. WordPress will go as far as your servers will 🙂

Ok, thanks for the answer. As I am a newbie to the whole thing, I dont know what I can expect. What do you guys think are the technical limits before the server crashes or gets way too slow (if I rent a server by any good hoster)?

In addition to the above answers, here a reasonable tech limitation
    http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.6/en/table-size-limit.html

    Host spec example:
    Adding Storage Space

Once you reached 50k users you can probably hire a full time server engineer anyway… 😉

Here an example of a very big community (+80k users) using BuddyPress.

Glad to bring some help to the future competitor of Google, Amazon, E-Bay and Facebook thinking about NoSql in the early stage of his project.

That said i doubt a little that WordPress is tailored for a such ambition. Give news when you have 5k users. 😉

haha yeah well I know it sounds ambitious. Just doing some research if it is worth the effort. Anyhow, do you guys think that IF I reach the critical mass of lets say 50k users it s possible with an acceptable effort to switch the system so that it would be scalable open end?

I think you don’t need to worry about problems until you have them.
