Can I make my community completely invisible to the public eye?

I am working on a non-profit housing community site. The members are very much privacy/security concerned. is there a way to make my entire Buddypress site a password protected site?

Please let me know as I have to finalize this by tomorrow.

You could probably use this snippet in your theme’s functions.php file:
