This is one of those crazy things because of the merger of bbpress with buddypress… you can turn off the ability to reply to these forum posts in the buddypress sidebar of the dashboard under “general settings” Turn off “Disable activity stream commenting on blog and forum posts?”. This will keep your forums focused, but will encourage responses by showing the post in the activity stream… it’s the best solution we “got”… so far anyway.

Although it doesn’t actually show up as a forum “reply” like usual it looks like an activity update on the forum post here:

Thanks, this really helps not to have that disconnect. I noticed this site now has “View Thread” in place of Reply and I really like that. I was wondering if anyone knew if that was going to come standard or how they did that!
I also noticed it is only on my posts but I’d like to have it on every post so it’s easier to get to a forum topic or blog post!
