Beginners question: URL to page mapping? (BP 1.1.3)

I have a working installation of WP2.9.1 with BP 1.1.3. I didn’t set it up myself and I actually don’t really understand how all the URL to display page mapping works. Now I want to add a new page that shows some static images (the same for all users). The page should look the same like the users starting page (URL /members/username), except that I want to show the images instead of messages. I know how to edit the theme so a new link is shown e. g. in the header or the user nav. But I couldn’t figure out where I have to create/edit/add something, so WP/BP knows what to do with an URL like “/members/username/static_images”. Could someone tell me, how this is done or at least where I have to start? I know PHP quite well (use it for approx 10 years), but I never had any contact with WP/BP before.

I suggest upgrading first to the latest version of BuddyPress: https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/upgrading-from-10x/

And then using something like the Media+ plugin.

You will have to do some theme re-work for compatibility with 1.2.x, but you’ll be making it a lot easier on yourself for any changes.

If you don’t want to upgrade, it might be worth putting 1.1.3 in the thread title, to solicit more direct help.

Unfortunately upgrading is currently out of question (due to time constraints with the need for testing aso.).

to add the a static image page to a member profile, and corresponding url – you are looking at adding a new component to BuddyPress (unless there is a quick hack fix).

Search creating a new component on here.

It’s not trivial though, upgrading and using the existing plugin may be the quicker option.

Anyone else got thoughts on this one?

Agree with Roger. To get started building a component for BP 1.1.3, use version 1.3.1 of https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-skeleton-component/download/
