Hey, I haven’t found any support for akismet, but its such a wordpress dependent program, so there has to be something……… can anyone point the way?

Yeah, we run akismet on our site without a hitch. We’ve enabled it sitewide and hard-coded in the API key. Just look in the first 20 or so lines of the source code and you’ll see in the comments where to hard-code it.

I was under the impression akismet by itself only works on the wordpress blog posts, but not forum posts or updates (buddypress stuff), am I wrong in this? – thats why I was asking about other plugins.

@catchit If I remember correctly Akismet is only for blog comments… not blog posts, forum posts, or updates. To prevent that you’ll need to prevent spam users from signing up for your site in the first place. I would recommend using the BuddyPress Humanity plugin.
