Probably by creating a little piece of scripting. jQuery would be the preferred and easiest approach. I would suggest perhaps that you look at SM forums code and see how they have managed it, you might possibly be able to replicate the function from their example, or head over to jQuery plugins and see if there is a custom ready made function to handle this that you can work into your site.
