BuddyPress 1.2.5.2 with WP 3.0.1 = No Forums?

    Hello there,

    I am not able to get the forums (bbpress) in my buddypress installation running. The automatic install routine says everything is ok and the bb-config.php is being created in my WP root directory. However when I click on the forums tab my browser (IE, Opera, Firefox) says “Page Not Found”. I changed the setting for permalinks from default so it should be ok. My .htaccess is also in place.

    Is there a known bug for this? What can I do now?

    EDIT: I tried re-installing the bbPress or even WP + BP + bbPress but nothing works. Clicking on “Forum” link in the main tab or from the group results in “address not found”.

    Sorry for bumping this but nobody seems to read this forum just “Troubleshooting” gets answers like every 5 minutes. Is there anybody in this community able to help me?

    The forum is a little quieter at weekends, and usually if you’ve got no response, it’s because people don’t know the answer.

    Do the other links on your site work? e.g. member profiles, groups, and so on?

    Yes – profiles, groups and so on work without problems.

    Does /plugins/buddypress/bp-forums/bbpress/* exist on the server?

    I think most of us read the forums as a main listing, one group doesn’t necessarily get more interest than another.

    It sounds as though all should be working so it’s hard to think what you should try now.

    You are using the default BP theme? If not please do so for the purposes of testing, also disable any plugins you might also be running, except, of course, for BP itself.

    You say that the .htaccess file is in place but can you actually confirm that it’s writable by the server when you update/change the permalink structure. Can you check that the DB tables are being created? Does your bb-config.php have the correct DB connection values?

    Yes, /httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-forums/bbpress and all the *.php files exist.

    I use the default buddypress theme. I don’t use any plugins besides buddypress. My httpdocs is chmod 777 for installation. BP has written the following into .htaccess:

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteRule ^index.php$ – [L]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteRule . /index.php [L]

    # END WordPress

    bb-config.php has the same config for database as wp-config.php.

    I have following tables in my db.

    Is it a problem if you are running BuddyPress in a subdomain like http://sub.domain.pl?

    I don’t see any wp_bb_ tables in that list, that though doesn’t necessarilly have a bearing on the page not found, unless the forum componant in not installing means no path to be found.

    The sub domain isn’t an issue, it’s just a domain, as long as everything is working in the doc root which is the more important aspect, I’m currently working on an install that is working as a sub domain of the top level domain , no special steps are required for that.

    Well I guess I am lost then. I am out of ideas. I can reproduce this exact same behavior on my main domain.

    Is your site installed in a subdirectory?

    Nope, httpdocs is the root dir for all files of my sub domain.

    Bump! People seem to have a lot of problems with this although permalinks are well adjusted, .htaccess is configured properly and forums are installed automatically by WP. Can anyone else please help?

    How so? have you attempted the BP forum install? as I said in an earlier comment, I didn’t spot any BB tables in your list

    In that case the automatic WP installation is broker, files are in place but no tables. I will try to install bbpress separately then.
