Is buddypress for me?

Hi guys
i want to create a membership subscription based site where users pay to access high definition video and down the line i will have a social network feel to it but right now i need a secure and scalable and cheap way to set up a paid membership site. there are so many other alternatives but somoene highly rated this.
What would you guys say? should i go with buddypress or try something like amember or kajabi?
