It looks like the user is not logged in

When someone logs in it looks like they aren’t, they still see the Login box and ‘To start connecting please log in first’ which leads to them trying to log in again and again. Refreshing the page DOES show they are logged in, as does navigating to a different page, however a lot of people will not do this and assume it is broken. Help?

Are you using the default theme? And a link to the problem would be helpful!

Yes I am using the default theme. I’m also using the plugin ‘BP Disable Activation’ (everyone was getting marked as a spammer when they registered).

Okay I’ve installed the ‘BP Redirect to Profile for Buddypress’ plugin which redirects users to their profile on login; this makes it clear they are in fact logged in.

Hmm, I notice that when I navigate back to the front page it still asks a logged in user to log in.

My users are also experiencing this problem, though so far it only seems to occur for newly registered users, and once they clear their cookies everything seems to work fine. My site is WP 3.0.1 + BP (latest). This only started occurring in the last couple of weeks, I suspect it may be due to one of my plugins; I’ll troubleshoot later to check.

I am also having the same problem but i don’t even get the error i just get looped back to the main page , this isn’t good as most don’t even know what cookies are yet alone how to enable or disable them.

further more when a user navigates to another page suddenly they are logged in, if they go back tot he main page they look logged out but again navigating to another page puts them logged in again.

I need a work around, can i just remove this check? is it mandatory for buddypress to use cookies to function? what are the risks of disabling this feature?
