sidebar.php login removal

    I have searched and tried (i think) about every suggestion to NO avail; it is just our family and friends website…but need to remove that wannabe login widget from the (right) sidebar…

    WP-3.5.1

    I have deleted the code lines…cleared caches…et al…it does not want to leave…I am new to WP…so if this was truly resolved…please point me…
