Archiving Activity Feed

Just a question hoping to learn something…. Been running BP for nearly a year now… as the site grows and the activity table gets bigger and bigger…. is there any plans in the future to allow admins to “archive off” BP Activity into a separate table? In other words have an option archive off posts “Older than 3 months” “Older than 6 months” “Older than 1 year” etc?
How would having say 5 years of very busy activity affect performance?
