How to Add Custom Logo to BuddyPress users' Avatars from WP-Admin?
-
Hey folks! I’m not sure what happened to my post from yesterday, so I’m guessing this may not have been a BP question but a WP question, so I’ll just re-ask it-thanks in advance for any help you can provide!!
I’m developing a site http://www.defendersofturntablism.org using Buddypress 1.7.3 and the Custom Community Pro theme running WP 3.5. This is a DJ community site, and I’d really like to be able to add a custom logo to a user’s avatar from within the wp-user admin panel (for example-standard logo is “DOT”-I’d like to add a standard logo “watermark” in lower right hand corner of all DJ’s avatars or “DOT advanced” logo for select advanced DJs).
To do this, I envision I would need to be able to create a new tab within the Users menu or extend the wp-user profile admin screen to allow for an admin to go to the user profile info, and choose from two custom logos depending on the users’ skill level with a simple checkbox or drop down select, and have it displayed on the front-end no matter what avatar they might update to.
I’ve done quite a bit of searching through the various codex’ and I’m not finding any plugins out there that might do this, but please do let me know if you are aware of one!! You see this on dating sites and other membership based sites all the time to ensure profile pictures being shared have the site’s logo or business name branded on them via a watermark, so I would hope it’s not too complicated a feature to pull off in the BuddyPress site dev world, lol…
And if it is uber complicated…It’s taken me just about a year to get my head around WP and BuddyPress (I’ve had to teach myself CSS and am trying to teach myself PHP to do these kinds of real functional enhancements myself), and I’m almost ready to launch, but this would be something I’d like to add before launch if possible! Although I’m grasping the concept of PHP and find myself understanding some of the code through a lot of studying and poring through back-end code on the server, I’ve never really written a plugin so I’m wondering if there’s anyone who might be willing to help me understand what kinds functions or filter hooks, or all of the above I might have to write and where the code needs to go??
Thanks in advance for your time and any assistance you might be able to provide!!
Sincerely,
Sean
