Show/Hide Navigation Tabs for Specific User Roles

Is there a way to edit home.php file that’s in the bp-legacy/buddypress/members/singles folder so that the navigation links Activty, Profile, Notifications, Messages, etc links only show for specific user roles. I have custom roles set up already, and for one of the roles I want to hide those links.

Using wordpress 3.8.1 and BP 1.9.2
